THE FOCUSED EYE: Our Unique Views
I make pictures that capture my experience hiking through remote countryside or visiting foreign towns and villages, allowing me to relive years later what I felt at the time. My images range from sweeping landscapes to small mountain shrines to colorful local characters and offbeat signs. In early 2017, on our last walk around Havana, I noticed these flags down a side street glowing in the late afternoon light. This – the very last image on our trip – symbolized for me the hopes of the Cuban people for continuing relations with the United States.
