Christina Maiorano

I have only been shooting for over 2 years. I started because I needed an outlet including continuing with my running from everyday and work related stress. A friend saw my photos I was taking with my IPhone 7. She recognized the seemingly different “talent” I had as she herself was a professional photographer and highly recommended I purchase a used Nikon D50. I have upgraded to a Nikon D3300 and a D3400, 10-400mm lens.

I am purely “self taught” and I immersed myself in some photography informative literature such as Nikon and Tamron. I put my work out there by utilizing auctions, Instagram, juried exhibits (Boston Camera Club, local, international juried), and best of all getting critiqued is the ultimate learning experience. I have entered and continue to enter juried shows. In my photography, I try to bring out the subject but not like everyone else does. I try to “visualize” the subject differently, angling, lighting, reflections, and without being completely centered all before shooting if, of course, time allows. I want my photography to bring joy, tell a story no matter the season, reason, issue, or event. I do not utilize layering, stacking, added “Special Effects,''or disengage from the original shot. I try to keep it simple, with my editing through Lightroom and Photoshop. I like utilizing different methods of color concept (RGB, HDR) but this continues to be an experimental concept for me.
