Architectural details, geometry, street art, and the interplay of light and shadow all grab my attention, whether I’m looking at a doorway, a roofline, an animated crowd, or a painting on a fence or wall. I want to hang onto those things, whatever has caught my eye, and photography lets me do that.
Photography lets me tell rich stories via the images I capture — a moment of expression in a street portrait or an unfolding event — and those opportunities draw me into new environments and experiences.
I’m especially passionate about street photography, where things move so fast and milliseconds count. It’s like trying to grab something as it flies by at high speed, and that’s a big challenge — but the effect can be so powerful. When it works, it is really satisfying.
I also love the process of fine-tuning the results, and immersing myself in different neighborhoods, cities, and countries along the way. But the greatest satisfaction comes from seeing my work enjoyed by others. By noticing and visually sharing the details I capture, I give people a chance to focus on subjects in ways they might not have imagined.
I like how dynamic the creative process is, as innovative technologies emerge. There’s always something new to try or some new goal to tackle, so it’s never boring. There has never been a more exciting time to be a photographer and the innovation in technology has allowed billions of people to experience that excitement.
