Born in Calcutta, raised in Goa, and educated in the US at LSU, Rutgers, and Harvard, I have been based in Boston for the last 15 years. A scientist by training with an artistic streak, I got into photography in 2013 while in the Galapagos with a Sony point and shoot. Self-taught, I got serious about the art after an introductory course in digital photography and a photography workshop in Glacier National Park in 2017.
I started my academic career in zoology pursuing wildlife conservation but got sidetracked into diabetes and obesity research for 30 years. I am now looking to combine this new-found passion for photography with my long-standing interest in wildlife and land conservation and my love for globetrotting. Photography also provides me with the opportunity to exercise my artistic talents with image composition and editing in the digital darkroom. And, instant gratification – seeing the results in almost real time.
