The Focused Eye: Our Unique Views was an outdoor photography exhibition located at Fan Pier on the Public Green in Boston’s bustling Seaport District. Eighty-eight images were displayed on a large-scale banner, 5-feet high and 250-feet long, showcasing the work of the Boston Camera Club, the second-oldest camera club in the country. Expertly sequenced by curator Emily Belz, each image speaks to the next by subject, color, composition or use of light to form a bridge, creating a compelling visual experience in the public realm. The photo banner exhibition was displayed from the end of May through October 2021. This web site is a record of the exhibition project.

These Boston-area groups were invited
to submit creative works in response to the exhibition images. Their members
contributed poetry, prose, photographs, video, audio and visual artwork
which adds creative impact beyond just the photographs themselves. Through this interactive component of public art,
bridges have been built between individuals and communities
who might not otherwise connect with each other or the Boston Camera Club.
